The Sinfonietta is a global network of all-women orchestras renowned for reimagining the music of popular culture in a symphonic setting. Its modern and innovative creative direction has positioned the Sinfonietta as an industry leader across film concerts, brand partnerships, session recording, and live events.
The Sinfonietta’s inaugural New York-based orchestra, The Broadway Sinfonietta, was founded in 2020 by Egyptian-American Orchestrator Macy Schmidt (who was recently named to the Forbes 30 Under 30 List for her work with the Sinfonietta). Since teaming up with industry veteran Colleen McCormack to grow the company, the orchestra has made its full orchestra debut presented by Carnegie Hall, signed with Sony Masterworks, and even expanded to include the LA-based Hollywood Sinfonietta and international satellite Sinfoniettas around the globe, from Dubai to Shanghai and beyond.

Great question! A film concert is a unique live performance experience in which a live orchestra performs a film's score and/or soundtrack, while the movie plays on a jumbo LED screen for an audience of thousands.
Imagine your favorite movie, but with the added thrill of hearing the music performed right there in the concert venue by live musicians. The orchestra brings the movie to life in a 'surround sound' experience, enhancing every emotion and scene.
-
The Sinfonietta ensembles are all-women and majority women-of-color orchestras, encompassing our flagship NYC-based Broadway Sinfonietta, and our LA-based Hollywood Sinfonietta.
-
These players are women handpicked by the Sinfonietta’s founder, Macy Schmidt, and may differ from concert to concert.
